Excursions in Nice

Nice's Old City, the Castle (half day)
The walking tour starts at about 14:00 in front of the school. The students will pass by the OPERA and the HOTEL DE VILLE on the way to the famous MARKET PLACE and walk through the narrow streets of the old section of the city. We'll visit the OLD CASTLE (ruin) and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view on the BAY of Nice.

Saint Paul-De-Vence (half day)
Departure by bus at 14:00. Visit the MATISSE CHAPEL, then St. PAUL (one of the five most beautiful villages in France). Many boutiques for handcrafts and souvenirs. Optional visit to the MAEGHT FOUNDATION.

Monaco / Monte Carlo (full day)
Departure by boat at 9:00. In Monaco, walking tour in the old city, changing of the guards outside the PRINCE'S PALACE. Includes a visit to the OCEANOGRAPHIC MUSEUM.

Afternoon at the Beach in Antibes
Departure by train at about 14:00. Originally founded by the Greeks, the OLD CITY was reconstructed in the 16th Century. Students walk through the market place and see a panoramic view of the city, sea, and mountains from the old fortifications. The GRIMALDI CASTLE, where the PICASSO MUSEUM is located, is inside the old city. The museum contains an excellent selection of masterpieces, including the artists drawings, prints, and tapestries. Entrance included. Return to Nice at about 18:30.

Saint Tropez (full day)
Departure by boat at 9:00. The boat follows the coast along the CAP D' ANTIBES, CANNES, and the CORNICHE D' OR (Esterel mountain). In Saint Tropez students visit the OLD VILLAGE and famous sand BEACHES. Return to Nice at about 18:00.

Grasse, Les Gorges du Loup, Gourdon (half day)
Departure by bus at about 14:15. Drive to the beautiful and wild valley of the Loup River. Stop at Pont du Loup to visit a CANDY FACTORY (free tasting of local candies). Visit of GOURDON a perched village in the French Alps, and visit the FRAGONARD perfume factory in GRASSE. Return at about 18:30.

Ventimiglia / Italy (half day)
Departure by train at about 13:30. The purpose of this trip to Italy is to have an opportunity to buy things (clothes, shoes, souvenirs) very cheap in the OPEN AIR MARKET of Ventimiglia. An identity card is required on this tour. Return to Nice at about 18:00.

Saint Juan-Les-Pins (full day)
An optional day at the beach.
